Background
Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is one of the best universities in China, which located in Wuhan city. The university is comprised of its main campus close by picturesque East Lake and a satellite medical campus located in the central business district of Hankou across the Yangtze River, and the distance between two campuses is over 30km.
Customer Requirements and Challenges
The data traffic between two campuses of HUST is increasing every year, however there are only 2 pairs of fiber links. Obviously, traditional switch solution is not available at this situation, because of its limit transmission capacity and poor flexible function. How to use these two pairs of fiber to bear the increasing data is needed to be resolved urgently.
Bland Technologies Solution
After discussing with HUST, Bland Technologies suggested customer to deploy Optical Transmission Network (OTN) equipment for the connectivity. Such are the features of the solution:

3, High Reliability. The optical layer of OTN equipment provides 1+1 optical channel and 1:1 optical line protection.

And because of its 1:1 optical line protection function, the 2 pairs of fiber link can be divided into main route and backup route. If the main route is cut, the backup route can take the traffic within 50ms. And this do really increase the reliability of the network.
